| About Us and Our Business The associates at Forensic DNA Consultants have more than 25 years of forensic DNA experience, and have been recognized for their efforts. Our principle consultant is Dr. Mitchell Holland (for a copy of Dr. Holland's CV click here). Dr. Holland holds a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry from Hobart College in New York. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Maryland and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine studying human genetics. Dr. Holland is a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), and has been a member of the American Society of Human Genetics. He has served as an associate professorial lecturer in the forensic science department at the George Washington University, and has been an adjunct faculty member at other colleges and universities. Dr. Holland is on the editorial board of the Journal of Forensic Sciences, and has been a member of the advisory board of the International Journal of Legal Medicine. Dr. Holland is currently an Associate Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA, and is the Associate Director of the Forensic Science Program (PSU Forensics). Prior to joining the faculty at Penn State, Dr. Holland held the position of Senior Vice President, Operations and Laboratory Director of the Bode Technology Group (Bode), a ChoicePoint® company where he oversaw the laboratory activities at Bode, as well as the Information Technology, the applied research, and the (wet lab) product development groups. In addition to overseeing a laboratory that produced more than 450,000 convicted offender profiles and completed the analysis of more than 15,000 forensic cases, Dr. Holland was responsible for the laboratory that assisted the NY City medical examiner's office with the identification of victims from the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. Prior to working at Bode, Dr. Holland held the position of Scientific Laboratory Director at the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL). At AFDIL, Dr. Holland was responsible for the laboratory that helped to identified the remains of 1st Lt Michael Blassie (the Vietnam Unknown Soldier) and Nicholas Romanov (the last Russian Tsar). While working at AFDIL and Bode, Dr. Holland was involved in more than 50 laboratory audits to the standards of the FBI, the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/ Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB), the National Forensic Science and Technology Center (NFSTC), the New York State Department of Health, and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Dr. Holland has given more than 100 lectures and/or presentations on forensic DNA (many at professional conferences), and has published 36 peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and literary pieces. |
